Tours run rain or shine -- a little drizzle adds to the atmosphere. In the case of severe weather (thunderstorms, dangerous wind, ice), we'll cancel the tour and offer you a full refund or the option to reschedule to any available date. You'll receive an email and/or text at least 2 hours before tour time if we need to cancel.

Our regular season runs September through November, with tours on Friday and Saturday evenings. The first tour departs at dusk and a second tour follows approximately one hour later. Special tours may be added around Halloween and other occasions -- check our booking page for the latest schedule.

The tour takes approximately 60 minutes and covers about three-quarters of a mile. The route follows public sidewalks in and around the Mount Vernon square. The pace is leisurely -- there's plenty of time to enjoy each stop.

This is a history-focused tour with a spooky atmosphere -- more mystery than horror. There are no jump scares, no graphic content, and no actors jumping out at you. It's designed to be family-friendly and suitable for all ages. That said, younger children who are sensitive to dark environments or ghost stories may do better on an earlier tour time when there's still some twilight. Use your judgment as a parent.

[TBD: Specific meeting location on the Mount Vernon square. Include a landmark or reference point. Example: "Meet at the southeast corner of the Mount Vernon Public Square, near the [landmark]. Look for the guide with the lantern -- you can't miss them."]

[TBD: Parking information. Mount Vernon's downtown square likely has free street parking and nearby lots. Specify the best options and any time restrictions.]

Yes. The tour route follows public sidewalks and is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. There may be some uneven pavement in spots, which your guide will point out. If you have specific accessibility concerns, please contact us before your tour and we'll make sure you're comfortable.

We love dogs, but for the safety and comfort of all guests (and the performers), pets are not permitted on the tour. Service animals are welcome.

Yes! Private tours are available for groups of up to 25. Great for birthday parties, corporate outings, family reunions, or any group looking for a unique experience. Contact us for private tour pricing and availability.

[TBD: Define refund and cancellation policy. Typical for ghost tours: full refund if cancelled by operator due to weather; refund or reschedule if guest cancels 24+ hours in advance; no refund for no-shows or cancellations less than 24 hours before tour time. Adjust to fit your needs.]

Plenty! Check out our Local Area page for dining and lodging recommendations. Mount Vernon has a vibrant downtown with restaurants, shops, and the Woodward Opera House. The Knox County Visitors Bureau is a great resource for planning your visit.
